I was surprised to see that you think that pre-Murdoch NY Post reporters were "apolitical." This after just telling us that the Post was "strongly liberal" during that time.

The idea that the opposite of "hard-core conservative" is "apolitical" doesn't hold much water, if you don't mind my saying. The opposite of Post's new HCC was more likely "hard-core liberalism" or "socialism."

Btw, I liked your recent "Nation" article on McCain and POW/MIAs. I'm bothered by Mr. McCain's apparent activism in burying reports on sightings.

The issue has always seemed to be handled in a fishy way. The Washington Times in the late 80s or early 90s had an op ed piece about how a US general (!) in Thailand had personally been involved in burning or otherwise disposing of many file cabinets of raw POW/MIA intelligence reports. A strange use of a general officer's time, unless the files were especially sensitive. FYI.
